Meet Alexis

I’m a former Early Years teacher and the founder of Play with Purpose. As a father of four, I know how hard it is to find time to create meaningful activities for children.

With Play with Purpose, I'm not rehearsing the 100 Toys greatest hits. I'm proud of what I created, but it's time to move on. This project is something new. You can still expect ideas and advice on play and development but my main focus is on helping you, the parent.
Running a business from home whilst looking after four under 5s was tough. I was on my laptop for long stretches but I also had a duty to provide an enriching environment for the children. I had to devise ways to keep them entertained and enjoying meaningful experiences independently. Interruptions were not an option.
A garden usually comes to the rescue in such situations, but England is cold and wet, and we have only fifteen feet of patio to 'enjoy'. A bit of sand a water but no room to ride a bike or dig.
So the nudges and habits were born. During my training and on a subsequent study visit, I was greatly influenced by the preschools of Reggio Emilia, and their idea of the environment as the third teacher.
Could I create a space that 'taught' my children?
Could I help them to become creative self-starters who made their own fun?
Take a look around Play with Purpose and see for yourself.
